ONDINE was designed by Frederick Parker and built by Woodnutts, Isle of Wight in 1960 for D A Kelsey of London. She was initially stationed at Poole and later at Hamble. In new ownership in the late 1960s of Mr & Mrs E M Dallimore, ONDINE was moved to Burnham on Crouch, she has remained on the East Coast since in the current 30 year ownership.
ONDINE is of 1.25 inch mahogany planking, splined from new with hickory, all copper fastened to steam bent rock elm timbers at 6 inch centres. Bronze floors, cast iron keel with stainless-steel bolts. Marine-ply decks. Varnished marine ply superstructure. Mahogany cockpit and brightwork.
14hp NANNI 2.5HE, TWO CYLINDER DIESEL ENGINE, fitted new 2005, 650 recorded hours. Indirect water cooled. Giving 5 knots cruising speed and 6.5 knots maximum. 9 gallon fuel capacity. Two blade fixed propeller new in 2005 with rope cutter. Two 85AH batteries and one 150AH battery. BGP Marine dual-charge battery selector.
Bermudian sloop rig sets 330 square feet plain sail.
ACCOMMODATION:
Traditional style accommodation finished in white enamel with varnished mahogany joinery. Saloon with 6ft headroom, full length berths to port and starboard with trotter boxes. To the port side Plastimo gas cooker with two burners and grill. Crockery and pantry locker, cutlery drawer. To starboard aft quarter sink with fresh water tap. Folding cabin table. Bulkhead mounted Plastimo gas heater. Nasa Marine gas detector. To starboard heads compartment with Jabsco Marine WC (new in 2021) Folding sink. To port a hanging locker. Forepeak with double bunk having locker below. Aft cockpit with locker seats, stern lazarette. Tiller steering. Manual bilge pump. Nasa VHF speakers.
